Intro to Machine Learning Workshop

This workshop is organized by Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, King Abdulaziz University. The workshop is a 3-day starting from 20th February 2022. The workshop will be given by Dr. Tawfiq Hasanin at the male campus and by Dr. Reem Al-Otaibi at the female campus. Workshops’ participants will study the methods of the machine learning using R.

Each day will comprise of series of theoretical sessions separated by practical exercises. The workshop structure is as the following:

  Day 1: 20th February 2022 10 am-12 noon

• Basic Concepts and Intro to Machine Learning
• Basic Statistical Descriptions of Data
• Data Pre-processing
• Data Visualization

  Tool: R language

  Day 2: 27th February 2022 10 am-12 noon

• Supervised Learning vs Unsupervised Learning
• Classification (i.e. Decision Trees, k-Nearest Neighbors)
• Clustering (i.e. K-Means)

  Tool: R language

  Day 3: 6th March 2022 10 am-12 noon

• Application Problems
• Choosing from multiple algorithms - What will work?

   Tool: R language

Location: Lab No.15, Faculty of Computing and Information Technology @ KAU,

Dates: 20th and 27th February and 6th March, 2022

Duration: 3 days. All days from 10:00am to 12:00pm (noon)
